Covid19 is not letting up - but we need to maintain our vocal abilities!
This is a tough time for all singers. Who would have ever thought that singing would get a bad rep! I am continuing to offer private voice lessons, group lessons and sight reading via Zoom. Eventually, we will return to our choirs and music venues. So, let's stay in tune! This may be a time when singing is far from your mind. However, it has been proven that singing provides emotional benefits - in plain English, it makes people happy. Happy is what we need right now because we have to put too many things on hold. If you love to sing, you have come to the right place! My goal is to help you to sing in a way that will allow you to enjoy your own voice and have confidence in yourself. Aside from teaching teens and young adults, I also understand how to care for and maintain the aging voice. At a time when church and community choirs have many aging members who gain great joy and satisfaction from choral activities, it is important to adjust to the vocal challenges of and the mature voice. Some of my students are adults who have always wanted to take up singing, but never had a chance to do so. Some sing in church or community choirs and want to improve their vocal skills and music reading ability. Other students are in middle or high school, trying out for the school musical, singing in the school choir or preparing for the annual WSMA Festivals. Sometimes, people simply sing to improve their self-esteem. Whatever your reasons and seasons for singing might be, the most important thing is to make it an enjoyable experience for you. I am looking forward to meeting you! |
